TL; DR: Ordered made-to-measure dresses 28 April, asked for confirmation of measurements 6 different times, including 3 refusals to accept measurements supplied, up to 2 weeks after measurements provided. Order kept being suspended whilst I "confirmed". Event date was clear from 12 May, measurements ditto. On 30 May, still receiving emails asking for measurement confirmation, I request cancellation – derisory offer received (refund 5%).
I placed an order for 4 dresses on 28 April 2022 and full payment was taken that day. The requested measurements were bust, hips, waist. At the time of ordering, the delivery date was scheduled for 11-16 May. On 11 May I went to the website to check the status of the order to find they had emailed me on 30 April about a set of measurements they hadn't requested on the order form (neck to waist, waist to base of dress – not included at all in the bespoke order form) and asking me to re-measure all the waist measurements. This email went direct to Junk and was from an email account which doesn't accept incoming emails, as did the email shortly after, suspending my order. I remeasured, and took the additional measurements, on 12 May and sent an email stating my event date - 9 June. The tracking system on the webpage still gave delivery for 11-16 May.
On 15 May I received an email telling me the variance between 2 measurements (bust and waist) was too great for their dressmakers. I confirmed and resent the measurements, just about complying with the waist-bust measurement. Measurements do not change from 14 May.
I received an email on 24th May telling me the due date for delivery would be 9 June.
I then received an email on 25th May, followed up by two further emails both on 26th May asking me to confirm a specific measurement, that I had initially supplied on 12 May, was [25cm]. I wrote back to all 3 saying no, it's [33cm], as set out in the email of 12 May. On Friday 27 May, I received an email asking for a photo of me making the measurement that I had sent them first on 12 May, more than 2 weeks earlier, then on Monday 30 May I received an email telling me that as I hadn't replied they had again suspended the order.
At this point there is no way these dresses are going to be made and received by 9 June, even if I video the whole measurement process to demonstrate I'm not inventing measurements. I wrote an email on Monday 30 May to cancel. As the order was currently suspended, and they have not actually got a confirmed set of measurements, with nothing actually processed yet, I was absolutely stunned to receive an offer of 10% off a future purchase, or 5% refund. I'd made it clear throughout that I need them by a certain date. They have my phone number and are supposedly based in Cambridgeshire.
I understand the importance of correct measurements. If I'd measured incorrectly and they'd produced it and sent it, I would be cross with myself but unable to blame them for following my measurements. They seem to have been dead-set on questioning things, even raising random measurements 2 weeks after the initial measurement was supplied, and refusing to accept 3 different confirmations of that measurement. They send emails so full of links that they go straight to Junk, from an email account that doesn't accept incoming emails.
I had previously used JJsHouse for a different family event, and the dresses had been provided by a relative who just took my measurements and sent me the dresses, back in 2018. If I had checked these reviews beforehand I would not now be about to fight for £340, which has also cost me hours of my time in measuring my children, writing emails responding to increasingly baffling requests – time that I do not have. Additionally, I'm now out of pocket for other dresses that I've had to buy in a hurry.
