Optimum takes advantage of elderly people. My father returned boxes. Called and cancelled and you even confirmed port date to Verizon. Optimum supervisor sent an email that apologized and stated it was now resolved and a zero balance was owed. That the system did not recognize the porting date for some reason. An error on YOUR end. Official email from an official optimum supervisor, Yet, you are charging him for services for over a year and won't stop.
Please...no one should use this company.
Do your research. My parents are not the only ones that are going through this.
Apparently, it's common practice.
Once you enter... you can't leave optimum apparently. You can return boxes, call to cancel, and even have an official port date out to another company. Get an email with an official apology admitting blame from a supervisor at Optimum confirming you owe nothing and they will still charge you.

Verizon internet costs less: same charge for 300MB/s and the actual speed is typically >250MB/s.
Tech support is equally bad for both.
I've been a customer for almost two years, and I wouldn't recommend this service – it feels like absolute robbery. It was great at first when I had both cable and internet, but after I moved, my bill skyrocketed despite maintaining the same services. I eventually cut off my cable, but my bill is still nearly $300! I can't understand how or why it's so high. As a result, I've decided to cancel my service. I found a new provider called Vexus, and their bill is supposed to be only $50 a month.
We have been losing service for two weeks, internet and phone. Not only have I had horrific service but I was offered a $20 credit for two weeks of intermittent service. This company doesnt care if they cannot provide the service you are paying for--they charge you anyway.
Signed up for automatic payment, with all cc info. They don't take the payment, shut off my service- when I call they say auto payment doesn't work first two months of billing cycle. Of course no one said this to me or warned I had to call in to make the payment. Plus you can't understand anyone in customer service since their call center is overseas and accents are so strong you don't even know if they're speaking English.
Optimum cable has, as often as not, really poor transmission quality. I keep losing signal or so many missing pixels it might as well have no signal. It comes with my apartment but lets face it no such thing as free so it's in the price of my rent. I am petitioning my apartment managers to use a different provider. If you pay for your own service please take my advice and do not use Optimum.
I used sudden link.terrible.now I try optimum. I ask questions.I can't get a answer before the say some crap like your saying this.I haven't even explained my concerns before you cut me off.please don't use this place it's a hoax just trying to get your money they are liars
This company is a scam. They sell you on one thing you get another. If you call to cancel due to unauthorized charges, they give you the run around. They are constantly asking me for my address, even when providing my card information, they asked for it again. To cancel I paid for the current bill, the next month's bill, and said I'd be charged again. The customer service reps are from the middle east or India. It's difficult to understand them and they are very pushy. Horrible service, horrible quality, shifty horrible company.
Absolutely the worst customer service. I upgraded to 8GB internet in the Fall of 2023. After a few months, I didn't see the speed benefit vs the cost so I asked to drop the bandwidth to 5 GB which was a better price. I started that process on Dec 1,2023. Here I am in Feb of 2024 and my bill is still reflecting the 8GB and I am paying the higher cost each month. Despite many calls, many chats, and even a technician coming to visit the house and look at the equipment, no results. All I get from any representative after either an hour of chatting or an hour of waiting for a rep to pick up my call, is that I need to call another number because they can't help me. My solution is simple, one more wrong bill and I close the account and return all equipment. Frontier is in the neighborhood. Hopefully, they are interested in my business.
After my gf took my cc and opened an optimum account all was well. The problem occurred when trying to cancel service. After failing to close the account my gf passed the job to me. I have had four separate communications with optimum requesting cancellation and final billing. After the first two attempts they kept billing me for a service I didn't authorize and no longer needed. The final insult being someone who sounded like taliban airforce trying to extort further money from my person. Since I never authorized the service, billing and communications directed to my gf I have had the joy of telling optimum and the subsequent illegal communications from a collection agency a cease and desist letter. Vultures!
Altice Optimun has been run down to the ground they hire overseas customers service that do not take your complaint seriously and when asking for a supervisor you never get one. They took jobs from here and sent them overseas to pay less and charge customers an arm and leg for service, and the sales people speak perfect English totally disgusted with Altice Optimum when companies grow they loss there value and it becomes all about money.
Tonight, came home to no internet service. I'm used to the 5-10 minute outages that happen multiple times in a day, this is what to expect with Suddenlink. This night it has been out for over 4 hours, with no communication from Suckylink (know they changed their name, but service is the same.)
Went online ON MY PHONE 5G, and was informed there was an outage in my area. No updates on when they expect resolution, over a several hour period.
This company does not respect their clients, do not have good updates, and do not think about their needs.
Reading the 2 reviews on Optimum/Optonline, etc. I can see that this company fails in the email business. I'm now pushed on to the 3rd level - the 2nd level knew nothing, like the first. Fortunately I have 3 real email accounts so I will probably cancel this. I pay about $272 a month for what they called "triple play," phone, Internet, and cable TV. I guess I'll have to drop the whole deal and go to Verizon or other service.
I called Optimum to clarify why the ACP was not applied to my account. I was told by the representative on the phone that even when I had Suddenlink I never had ACP. I told her straight out that's a lie because yes I did. I have bills from Suddenlink with the ACP credit was applied. When I tried to have a civil conversation with her she started speaking to me like I was a piece of garbage and that I didn't matter. I do not recommend this company to anyone, they pull some very questionable business practices.
We ordered their internet package. The day the equipment was supposed to arrive it was returned instead, no phone call or email just a notice from FedEx. I called. They had without notice canceled the account. We had already paid for the equipment. It took three phone calls and canceling an account They had closed to get them to say the check was in the mail. It wasn't. A bill saying they had credited our account with the equipment refund for the first month of service. Service we can't receive without the equipment and what they say we owe for a second month. Again we didn't ever actually get to use what they are charging us for. We will be contacting the attorney general's office and if I have to seven on your side.
Horrible experience with this ISP. This service provider is not worthy to purchase service from i disconnected my service a month ago via the appp and returned the device they still charged me more than regular charges that i supposed to pay:(
I called and talked to agents they they don't have a record of disconnection at their end and my service is still active they say there might be scammers inside optimum app who talked to me via live chat... that is weird they don't have control on their own app :( the agent said they don't have a prove of disconnection while I asked her to give me the email address where I can send the screenshots of the prove if disconnection she said they don't have email address for me :( i am very disappointed with the services of this company this ISP is a thief they just know ho to charge you and get money from you :( I don't recommend this ISP please stay away they are just a headache
Had a technician to the house today to switch home phone service from At&t to Optimum... Technician was extremely helpful with helping navigate website and access all phone feature... i would highly recommend
After having moved to a new home, I noticed that the Optimum internet service was pretty patchy even though it had been totally reliable at two previous addresses. It finally got to the point that the service was cutting in and out frequently, and then dropping out altogether for hours at a time. I spoke to a lot of agents on the phone, and had a couple of techs come over, first to swap out the modem/router, and then to test the exterior line and switch it over to one with a strong signal. Fingers crossed, it should be solid from here on out.
I really feel compelled to write in praise of all of the Optimum agents and techs that I dealt with along the way. I never had to wait long before I could get through to a human on the phone, and the agents were so patient, knowledgable, pleasant, and helpful. The same goes for the techs who came to my house. I can't remember the last time I dealt with a large company that had such satisfying customer support and service, across all departments, so I sincerely hope that Optimum is taking care of these wonderful people because they so deserve it!
Any "conspiracy theories" I had initially come up with that I had been saddled with junk gear, or that the spotty service was to force me to upgrade to a more expensive plan, were completely unfounded. I am genuinely thankful to everyone at Optimum for getting me back online and able to complete my daily workload.
Worst service ever. Can't call them they hang up they are rude unprofessional and do not give a crap about you! Stay far far away
One thing I'll say when you request for a tech to come and install services they should know to put the service equipment in a safe place not in the floor where everyone in the household walks on, maybe have techs that care to finish their job as soon as they start it and not leave the customer stranded with no service at all this tech was supposed to install my services tv phone and fiber internet and then failed to inform me or my family that the pole was the source of the problem and as a result of that issue I have no services turned on I've had countless agents write up notes on my account for the field team to fix the problem at the pole but didn't send anyone out and had to resort to go back to Fios since I had their equipment still and I was not gonna spend another day with no tv or internet I had to spend Friday night in complete darkness for their stupidity and inability to send a tech to address the issue I even gave the customer service rep an earful when they told me they couldn't do much for me at the moment I angrily told them I want my month of service completely waived for this! But enough is enough I'm done playing childish games with you optimum!
I will not recommend optimum to nobody if this is the type of service a customer is gonna get. Please anyone go for any other service provider and stay away from optimum they will screw you over and play games with you. I am extremely disappointed with this company I don't even know how they are in business this long when you fix this issue with your customers and not leave them screwed maybe I'll come back but In the meantime screw you and this company
After countless times on the phone resolving nothing it's very apparent that you people don't give a damn about the customer all I ever wanted was to be a happy customer but that's out of the question now..
