I am filing this complaint to bring awareness to PeopleFinders' misleading and unethical business practices. Consumers are led to believe they are purchasing a one-time, low-cost report, only to discover later that they have been enrolled in an ongoing monthly subscription without their clear consent.
This is not a simple case of customers "failing to read the fine print." The entire transaction process appears intentionally designed to confuse and mislead consumers into agreeing to recurring charges. It reflects a business model built on exploiting ambiguity rather than transparency.
Equally concerning, attempts to challenge these charges through credit card companies often go nowhere, as PeopleFinders justifies the charges by pointing to its obscure fine print — a convenient shield that legitimizes unethical behavior.
I believe this company's practices are deceptive and harmful to consumers. This complaint is intended to warn others and encourage greater scrutiny of PeopleFinders' business methods by consumer protection organizations.
Be very careful. People Finders will enroll you on a regular subscription and charge every month. 50 phone minutes hold to cancel.
They do not respect their customers at all. I would never sign up with them again and I regret that I did in the first place. Mostly their service is useless! Besides that, you better know exactly what you are agreeing to because their customer service will hang you with it!
I contacted the on the day the subscription renewed - I cancelled the subscription, but they charged me for that month and just sent me a form letter telling me that they WOULD NOT give me a refund for the next month and told me in their 500 page agreement, I had agreed to it! They are just thieves!
I used PeopleFinders just once, I mean, an one time purchase $1.45 to obtain a phone number. A couple days later, they took $24.95 from my account, I believe for a service subscription which I have never requested. I replaced my bank card immediately and now I am waiting for my bank dispute process. So frustrating.
Although I paid for the useless information they provided, but they went ahead and charged me for monthly service that I did not ask for and refused to refund the subscription fee. It's s scam to part you with your money.
I had tried Peoplefinders.com last year and I quit trying because information they provided was outdated or wrong. I Google searched for someone's email address and Peoplefinders.com offer popped up offering 3-day Free trial on July 2. I tried and again information was worthless and on July 3, bank notified me of charge for $29.95. I went on their site, having planned to cancel on 3rd day and saw they charged my card on 2nd day before I could cancel. Contacted their customer disservice and received long list of reasons customers cannot get refund. Essentially, "the sun rose today, so Peoplefinders.com will not issue refund". Tried several times to contact founder and chairman Robert Miller, but no reply where he is insulated from customers by their customer disservice group and will be able to swear in court, he did not know how they effectively steal customer's money as evidenced by the MANY Better Business Bureau reports and on other review sites.
They have a person listed at my address that has never lived here. They refuse to fix it. Don't waste your money
They steal money from my account I can't even lookup my doctor address to get my rides this is rude
I use one time, i pay 0.95 and they charged for months! I try BBB to put my Claim, i hope BBB helps to get a refund, They never sent me an email saying I was subscribed.
Ripoff. PeopleFinders runs a cleverly deceptive website. They automatically charged me a monthly fee of $24.95. I've tried to call and email them for an explanation. To date, I have not received a response. Don't get ripped off.

If you use PeopleFinders.com, beware of their monthly fraudulent/unauthorized billings of &29.95 to your credit or debit card you use to make purchase the purchase. Once they have your card on file, they WILL place a charge each month whether you sign up for membership or not. When you ask for refund, they will issue an immediate refund but only if the last month they charged you for. If I can give them a 0 star, I would. I'm sure I'm not the only one who has experienced this and would actually think this is grounds for a great class-action lawsuit against PeopleFinders.com!
I used their service once, then tried to cancel the subscription that same day, intending to just pay for the one use of their service ($24.99). I received a pop-up offering a lifetime subscription for a one time cost of $29.99. I hardly look up up anything but thought, why not? The next day I saw they had submitted debits for $29.99 four times (plus the $24.99). Luckily, my bank did not put it through the $29.99 once. They really shouldn't have gotten anymore than the $24.99, but I did not refute it.
I was shocked when I saw a month later that they had again debited my account. I cannot contact them by phone nor by the customer service email they had provided. My emails are undeliverable and they blocked me from their website. It is amazing how dishonest they are! I am sure people use services like theirs, so why not deliver good, ethical service?
They are fools if they think they will keep a penny of my hard earned money.
I am even going reclaim the $29.99 they had gotten a month ago. I will let them keep the $24.99, even though I don't know if the information I got from them is useful.
They will keep charging your credit card even though it is just for one search. I have been in the dispute with this company Ever since I noticed a fraudulent charge on my credit card and trying to get it reversed
Signed up for the 3 day trial for.99 was not very useful old info about person I was looking for so I canceled. EVEN AFTER I CANCELED THEY STILL CHARGED ME $24.95 FOR THE NEXT THREE MONTHS UNTILL I SAT DOWN AND WENT THRU ALL MY TRANSACTIONS TRYONG TO FIGURE OUT WHERE IM LOSING MONEY, I CALLED THEM THEY ACTED LIKE THEY DIDNT KNOW WHAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT UNTIL I ASKED FOR A MANAGER WHO ALSO TURNED OUT TO BE USELESS SAID SOMETHING ABOUT 2 ACCOUNTS? I DIDNT SIGN UP FOR 2 ACCOUNTS APPARENTLY ITS AUTOMATIC,
STAY AWAY FROM THESE PEOPLE!
I called PeopleFinders as I paid for what I believed to be a one time charge for a back ground check. I continuously get charged even though I have canceled. He asked me, "What is wrong with you for allowing his charged to continue". I let him know that I have attempted to cancel. He told me he would cancel my membership, but couldn't help me any prior charges. That was just the way it was...company policy. I have never been treated with such disrespect. :/
First time I canceled after 2 months because backgrounds are not the best. I contacted them and asked to cancel again and they offered me a lifetime 69.95 one time fee. I agreed because what the heck, maybe they'll get better. 3 months later that one time fee made its way to my account again. I disputed it with my bank and peoplefinders canceled my account because I disputed the second charge. Do not fall prey to them, they'll rip you off
I signed up for a service and sold as a one-off use. Tricky tricky, the backdoored signed me up and billed me until I find it.
No reimburse, no care. DIRTY POOL
I joined peoplefinder after selecting one of many "special" offers. I got some info on the party I was interested in, but the next day the PW I set up would not work. I called, but they were closed for the day (It was still lunch time on the Pacific coast) and I should email and get a reply in "1 to 2 days." They again offered me a chance to "join" for more than I agreed to pay for 3 months the day before. Also, they charged me a 'down load fee" for every type of report I asked for, thus increasing your cost by as little as.95 cents to 3.99 for the transactions I thought would be part of the 90 plan. In short, they suck. It seems like everybody wants to skin you and get into your info and milk it for all its worth.
I canceled the subscription right away and they still charged me 24.95. I have to call my bank to dispute the charges.
