I ran into a pretty severe situation with a roommate I was renting from it was not an ideal situation and I had to find a place to go very quickly it took me less than a week to find what I feel is perfect place for what I was paying at the place I was unhappy with

Roomie is a great website to publish a free room to look for tenants. I would recommend it for sure.

Great website design and very user friendly and helpful service for finding roommates to rent rooms. I've used it twice effectively and it's my go to for finding roomies!

The site is old & outdated.
People hardly respond, nor do many remove their listing once they no longer need a service.
Stick with a paid service or CL.

Easy to sign up and get an account setup. I liked that I didn't really need to do too much, but of course it is great that it verifies you. Able to search and either team up or find a room.

You never know how accurate or honest someone may be. Most recently met with a potential roommate in person, and was told the room was not available. They could have told me this in an email, instead of using up half my day with travel time. Also recently, I found what looked like a good roommate match, but they never replied, so why did they even list the room for? Thanks for letting me review.

While this site does make finding a roommate or room to rent super easy, it's also a super easy way to be scammed. I decided to rent from an individual on this app and I thought everything was fine. Come to find out a few months later that the person on this site was subletting and the owner of the home had no idea. So then I was kicked out, never got my deposit back and they never reimbursed for the remaining money from my unused month. That person is still up on this website too. On top of all that the roommates were absolutely dirty and never cleaned up after themselves. Half the time there were moldy dishes in the sink, the bathroom was disgusting and the house was nasty. I was the only one who ever cleaned up. It's too much of a gamble finding people on this website.

Within a 120-minute window of submitting my first room request, I obtained both a response and phone call from my host. Our connection was instantaneous. I paid a visit to her, she gave me a tour, and I left a deposit. In two weeks, I will move in. Our compatibility was unmatched.

Our experience using Roomies was awful. We're facing homelessness now because the landlady's refused to hear our complaints against our other roommate for stalking her. He's an old man. My daughter is in her 20's but looks younger. They never even replied to our complaint for 19 days. They refused to give us his last name or to address any of our complaints against him.
When they did, they told us to not choose communal living. As if we are the problem. They're friends with him & are now evicting us because he told them I was smoking cigarettes in my room. I tried telling him & them, that he mistook my cannabis for cigarettes, but I was outside on the deck. Since they're friends, they chose to believe him & are evicting us for not "curing" the problem.
They never told us how to cure it. They never showed us where the mailbox is. They just tell us, well you never asked. I didn't know what curing means.
They deny they're friends with him, yet he visits them at all hours & we've never seen the downstairs. They said they'd show us, but never have. They hired a housekeeper (finally) for the common areas & kitchen only. Yet I seen the housekeeper come out of that roommates room. She cleaned his room, but not ours. They denied that too but I saw her come out of the other roommates room with her cleaning supplies.
They shut off the heat in the rest of the house all winter. The rooms & bathroom each have small floor heaters. The rest of the house is freezing. You have to wear a coat to make breakfast. Going to the bathroom during the night is absolutely awful. I'm a 57 yr old disabled woman.
I can barely walk & have multiple health issues including Scleroderma. These people have put me through hell living here. We haven't felt SAFE for months. They have another guy living with them downstairs that we haven't met yet. He is big & scary looking. Now that we know they side with the men here,we don't trust them.
They don't care about our safety or our warmth. They've created a hostile living environment. They ignored our complaints about our roommate not leaving us alone & telling us he didn't have to leave us alone. He would wait for my daughter to get off work every night for almost 3 months.
He refused to leave her alone so I threatened to file a restraining order against him & he moved out immediately & hurriedly. Now they're trying to say they asked him to move since we can't get along like civil adults. Like we are the problem when all we wanted was to be left alone! It's shady that their website doesn't provide a way to leave a review or even get ahold of anyone. It's very limited. Can't even leave a google review for a global business? I pray it isn't used for human trafficking. Our landlady's sure are shady! They're friends with predator types & have broken several landlord laws.

It was good we found connection with each other. Thanks for providing this awesome platform. It would be nice if Roomies have features to help confirming or proofing a tenant is a quality tenant and may vice versa too.

I was going to get a place with my daughter she broke my heart and ran off with her boyfriend is not good for her but I found a roomie on here a single mom of a todler and she's awesome so God put her in my path I believe to happy up

This site is a joke not one person on the site who offering an available room ever responds to messages they either just ignore your messages or Block the post from being seen again.Im seriously in need a place soon and if you in the same position as me don't bother with this site you'll just be missing out on an opportunity somewhere else.

We had a room for rent in our house and within a day we made our selection from numerous candidates.

I live at 311 Tolland Street, in East Hartford, Ct. I have lived here for over a year, and the landlord has not only asked about my sexual preferences. Also, he is a compulsive liar who tried to bamboozle me out of November 17,2023 rent payment of $180. I pay $180 at a weekly frequency, and the landlord tried to pull a fast one by saying that I issued him a bad check, and he said that I would not have the receipt. Then, I shamed him by not only providing the receipt, but also unraveling that he was the one who actually changed the check. He was furious when I told him this. He actually got the cop involved; however, he felt like a fool when he realized how prepared I was in dealing with the situation. He was embarrassed that I revealed his scheme. After 11/24/2023 payment, he never accepted payment from me. I would drop the payment and then after work the next day, I would find the money order, sometimes, even my credit union bank check with his name on it, he rejected. Then, I would get an eviction paper with the same date 11/24/2023, for no payment of rent. I was surprised and shocked. I had an epiphany moment, I suddenly realized that this man was doing this to me, because I have a nice car. He told me he does not like me; I work two jobs and go to school. I am never there. Since I have been here, i have not once brought a visitor here. My other roommates don't drive, and we have never had an issue with each other. The landlord does not work, so he sits home and watch people. He threw nails at his neighbor's car and then wanted to discuss it with us. I thought he is sick. I wake up sometimes to elongated nails under my car. I am tired of trying to pay this landlord, while he rejects my payments and tell everyone that i don't pay him. I videoed dropping his payment. The next day the payment whined up in my room. This person is very evil. Word, sound, and power.

Continual breakins and trespassing onto property by houseless and criminals. Landlord ignores safety issues and deletes relevant clips of trespassing on his security cams to avoid liability. Cops called. Dangerous conditions in house made me end up in ER. Got termination notice after I was injured on the property due to unsafe living conditions. Avoid this place, you will get hurt or killed.

Roomies was very helpful to me. I was renting my room and found a housemate not on Roomies but I did have a number of possibilities here. I really appreciate the fact that I get a background check credit check and identity verification here so that people would know that I was trustworthy. These checks were all reasonably priced and I could ask my potential housemate to get the checks done here. Also, I received a number of possibilities most days and could contact them and most people did actually contact me back unlike on other sites. My room was at the high end of, the rental prices here, but still, it was great, and I think that the listings were very accurate. Thank you very much. I will use it again when I need to.
