I filed my 2023 federal and state returns via TurboTax last year. Filing them online proved difficult and not particularly inexpensive. Since the early days of this year, I have been inundated with daily emails urging me to file again for 2024. One of their emails even stated that you could personally meet a local pro, discussing your return and physically dropping off paperwork. I was then 'matched' with a 'pro' who affirmed via chat that no, I would NOT be able to do that, but that she could walk me through it online. No thanks...more of a hassle than it's worth. I made it clear that I was not interested in moving forward, but have STILL received daily emails and voicemails that I have had to block. I feel deceived by TurboTax and plan to NEVER consider their 'services' again.
By default, the online version selects the most expensive preparation option. I missed unselecting this, and was charged for the Live Premium package, when I only needed the basic. I'm a retired CPA. They refused to refund the difference and emailed me some generic response that didn't address my issue.
Don't file with tubro tax (tt) if you want your return early. They hold your return till the very last day they can. IRS says my return was paid out 4 days ago. I know tt has it because my fees has been paid for days but tt says irs has not sent it! When you Google turbo tax ddd everyone is saying they have the same issue. They also cancelled the 5 days early thing with no reason as to why so that's a scam too also was "free" to file up until the end then they added premium with no way to take it off then also a processing fee of 40 with no reason why on that either.
Absolutely terrible, they say they can track estimated refund and not even close. I will never use them again, scam. Not good. Don't use them. I'd rather pay another provider
I just found out that Turbotax is not compatible with the efiling requirements for Iowa for business income tax returns. No bid deal except that Iowa requires business returns with over $250,000 in receipts to file electronically. After and hour with Turbotax support I was informed that this will not be fixed by Turbotax. The State of Iowasrecommended that I file my corporate income taxes using another software package. Thanks Turbotax for letting me down!
I strongly suggest you use another tax filing software program. I have tried to E-File for 3 years in a row and each time I get a notice from the IRS for rejected return. Most recently I was told to follow the instructions for the rejection notice and veriefied that the AGI from the previous year was in fact correct, and it still would not work. Consequently the product has resulted in penalties and late fees from the IRS and State. Terrible. I strongly suggest you find another tax program to use.
In preparing our 2023 Canadian taxes, the online software would not allow us to carry forward tuition amounts, even though there was a refund and no need to use any of the amount. I spent almost 2 hours on the phone with the support group and he eventually hung up on me when he could not find a solution!
Do not buy the Turbo Tax Assess and Review. I had done my with Turbo Tax Standard online and hadnt submitted it yet. I wanted it to be reviewed as I did not like the end result so I purchased The Assist and Review and all he did was go over it. There was no advice on how to change something to my advantage or any tips of a kind. Total waste of money!
Customer service supervisor was rude to tell me the fee is what it is when it was suppose to be a free service to file a 1040 with no additional forms items. I was also told their is other company's out there outside of Turbo tax and that maybe I should use one of them. I recommend not to use turbo tax as it's not a free service with filing a 1040 and most importantly the Supervisor hung up on me during conversation.
Very disappointed in the 2023 Turbo Tax. I am a retired CPA and have been using this product many years. I use this product first so I can determine how much I can get out of my IRA at the lowest rate possible. Despite paying early and being told the software would be completed on line prior to December 31 the capital loss carryover was not complete. Next problem was that the numbers for my prior year are incorrect. Last issue is Turbo Tax just won't give up on trying to sell things.
Turbotax is only good at taken your money. If you have a issue that's when you learn they don't care about you and are not on your team. It's bad enough your dealing with a corrupt government agency and that you will be doing it alone. Uncle scam is not your friend and neither is turbo tax. If you like disappointment in your life you find plenty of it at turbo tax. They take sorry Ness to a whole new level. Keep your heart pressed to find anyone more sorry than these guys. I've used TurboTax for years and have been purchasing higher end products (Free -> Deluxe -> Premium) as the year went on since more features were needed. Then I received an IRS notice that I owed taxes.
When I went back to check my TurboTax file, there were questions that weren't phrased clearly which caused confusion regarding which information to enter. If I had tried to contact their customer service to clarify, I either had to pay extra on top of the expensive software/product I had already purchased, or I would be talking to someone who was obviously Googling for answers and knew less than I did.
When I filed a claim/complaint with TurboTax, they reviewed it and told me it's my own fault. Of course they would never own up to their faulty products and refuse to compensate their customers.
Using TurboTax was not only a waste of money, it ended up costing me more money, time, stress, and energy. When I reached out to CPAs, they told me their "number one referral is from TurboTax" since they mess up so many people's returns.
Avoid TurboTax like a plague.

$13,000.00 I am single 60 years old. Long Island NY. I will never never use them again beware. All they do is review, rereview and review again and again. By the time you completed you do not care anymore on the fees bcause it took hours and hours to complete. They used to be good but now I wood give them 5 negitive star!
They didn't help me get anything else other than crypto and I never got the refund they promised. I can't get ahold of them without paying them either or don't know how.
So I've used turbo tax for a few years, mostly because it didn't cost too much and was convenient. I make too much to do the free file, but my tax situation is fairly simple, std deduction and occasional stock sales, some interest and dividends. The price went from like 39,49,59,79 over the last 4 years I think I had to use a deluxe version because of the dividends. This year it forced me into a premium version and wanted 114 for it. So I abandoned my tax preparation thinking I could just get the paper forms and do it the old fashioned way. I found that on the IRS site, I could just fill those forms out in my browser and e-file them for free. And while not all forms are available yet, many are. It's not quite as nice as Turbo Tax, where it let's you take pictures of your W2 and import it in easily, but other than that no huge charge because I had a 40 dollar dividend. The time spent was about the same, since I saved a lot of time by not answering all the silly questions they ask about things that don't apply to me, and the ones trying to push you into a more expensive version, but then I had to read some of the instructions and find the tax I owed from a table in the instructions PDF. I don't think this option was available prior to this year, but I'm never using Turbo Tax again.

Take my advice and go elsewhere. If anything goes wrong you will regret trying (operative word) to find help.
I paid to file my taxes through Intuit Turbo Tax. I logged off to get more information. However, when I logged back in to file, the site took me back to the payment page, even though I had paid and had a receipt with a product #. I called four different #s each associated with TurboTax. Each one told me to call the other #. What a scam! I will never use TurboTax ever again. I highly recommend that everyone avoid the TurboTax!
TurboTax made an incredibly stupid mistake on my Colorado return that would have cost me over $5000.00 had I not caught it.
It also missed an $800 credit for what in colorado is called "TABOR." This is a single line that has to be filled out, basically yes I'll take it or if left blank you don't get it.
TurboTax did not prompt for TABOR nor inform me of it. My daughter brought it to my attention.
I tried to amend state return with TurboTax and it repeatedly made the same errors.
