Do not acquire any service from this company. They start charging you an unauthorized subscription, and even if you file complaints and request to cancel that subscription and get a refund, they won't do it. They make it seem like they've canceled it, but they don't, and they keep charging you without issuing any refund. Do not trust this company; it is a fraudulent company
VinHistoryUSA is a scam. I signed up for what was advertised as a simple $1 one-time VIN check, but I was tricked into a hidden $29.95/month subscription. The subscription terms were not clear during checkout — they were buried in tiny text at the very bottom of a long page, hidden behind what looked like ads. The so-called VIN report I received was useless, just generic info you can find online for free (year, make, model, recalls). Nothing like a real Carfax or NMVTIS report. When I tried to cancel immediately, their unsubscribe link led to an error page. I emailed them right away requesting cancellation and a refund. They sent me a generic copy-paste reply, then ignored me completely. Scam. I disputed the charge with PayPal and Bank of America, but both sided with the merchant, even though I provided evidence that cancellation didn't work and that the subscription terms were deceptive. This company clearly exploits loopholes and hides behind payment processors.
Won't let you cancel, despite emailing multiple times, many online chats, many emailed "tickets", etc.
Basically impossible to cancel, appalling customer service if you ever actually get to speak to someone, no progress. Just don't use them it's not worth it
I had an experience that made things easy for me to understand and accurate information was given.
Scam artists. I wasn't able to use the service as my vin is too old. There was no cancellation link and when I contacted support they refused and kept sending me auto responses to use a link in my sign up email. Then they charged me 29.95 and I disputed it with Pay"Pal" and they sided with vin history stating they had replied to me before the end of the trial. I got no resolution. So I called the number which is a call center in India. You know what India is famous for. Scamming people. I am going to end my business with pay"pal" as well.
Do not use Vinhistoryusa! They are not a real company. It is an over seas scam that has been allowed to operate for far too long. If you use that website, you will not receive your reports, they will charge you $29.99 (even if you cancel in time), and they will not refund the money no matter what. The Global Informatics LLC doesn't exist, the BBB has no record of the company, and they give at least five different USA addresses none of them in San Francisco, while giving a San Francisco phone number which is if course no longer active. This is a criminal enterprise that has been allowed to operate under the guise of bad customer service. They figured they could get away will merely annoying Americans and not costing them too much, and for a great while this actually worked for them. However, they eventually ripped off enough people or the wrong people who actually investigated them, and now they are exposed. Do not use Vinhistoryusa they are an overseas criminal scam website!
This website is a complete SCAM. They lure you in by offering a vehicle history report for just $1, but what they don't tell you is that they will start charging you $30 after 7 days, and will keep charging every 15 or 30 days like some hidden subscription you never clearly agreed to. The worst part? Their "customer service" is a joke: The chat is useless. The emails just send you cancellation links that don't work. No matter how many times you try, there's NO REAL WAY TO CANCEL. This is a predatory scheme, and somehow they're still showing up in Google Ads, which makes more people fall into the trap. If you've been a victim too, or just want to help stop this fraud, report them to the FTC (Federal Trade Commission). Please don't ignore this. The more people who report them, the faster this scam can be taken down. Share this with others!
So I did a Google Search for a free VIN History Check. VINHistoryUSA. Com advertises a free VIN report. When you go to their site they request $1 for the report. However a couple days later I found I was being charged $29.95 bi-weekly! For a subscription I did NOT sign up for. When contacting the company they said they do NOT do one-off reports and I subscribed to their service. No where on their site do they indicate you are subscribing. When I pointed out their advertisement on Google for a free VIN check they acted like they were unaware of that. Yet they are a Google sponsored provider. Still have not received any cancellation or refund confirmation.
I used VINHISTORYUSA to check on a vehicle I was interested to purchase. The "free" option ended up costing $1 to get an inferior vehicle report. Agreeing to the dollar charge signs you up for a membership at $29.95. This info was not displayed to my recollection and the charge shows up a week later. This business is set solely to scam consumers in my opinion.
They automatically set you up on auto pay, and not make it known. When I saw a $60 charge from them on PayPal after two months, I was obviously being SCAMMED. They took it from my PayPal account and after complaining to PayPal about this, they did not help me get my money back. I am out $60. I tried to call VinHistoryUSA and got disconnected.
Advertising 1$ then immediately took 3 separate transactions out, then an atm credit. Chase advised me to cancel the card.
First of all my search engine search led me to believe it would be free. Then once I clicked on it the site said it was $1 for a week trial. After I paid the trial fee and put in my vin number the report it gave me was almost worthless (it could find anything in any of the reports it checked) and said if I wanted a printable version it would be another $1, if I wanted a downloadable version that would also be a $1. If I wanted to see the owner's name and info that would be another $1. If I wanted a detailed vehicle history that would also be $5. After the trial you then are set up automatically for a subscription which I think was $29 a month. I don't need a subscription to sell one vehicle and buy one vehicle. Oh and they also started the pulling you in to try the trial by saying if a website offers info for free it is worthless and if they charge you $40 or more then you are way paying over.
Paid $1 for the VIN history. Didn't get one. So, within my 7-day trial I submitted a request for cancelation. Then, after the 70-days, I got charged $29.95.
Still not canceled and still no refund.
NOT RECOMMENDED!
SCAM!
Site is an absolute scam. RUN AWAY.
The $1 report produced absolutely nothing. Then, canceling the subscription is absolutely impossible. If you call, they tell you to ask the chat bot. If you chat, they tell you to email. In the email they send you to a link that doesn't work.
SCAM. SCAM. SCAM.
Reliable source of information. I used it a few times when purchasing pre-owned vehicles
This is a scam site. You will not get a free report. They will charge you $1 then have your payment info and charge you a $30 subscription fee a week later that they refuse to refund. Beware!
